Middle School Spanish Fridays 11:00

Spanish 1 Course description Curriculum ¡Vamos! By Breaking the Barrier, Semester 1 will include practice, review, and testing of culture, vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading, speaking, and listening in: greetings, family, weather, days, time, counting, subject pronouns, “boot” verbs in present tense, nouns-singular and plural, interrogatives, conjunctions, adjectives and the idea of agreement. Semester 2 will include practice, review, and testing of culture, vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading, and listening in: Irregular verbs, ser and estar, definite and indefinite articles, preterite of regular and irregular verbs, prepositions, direct object pronouns, personal a, uses of tener, indirect object pronouns, gustar, possessive adjectives…introduction of imperfect tense and comparisons. 1 weekly in-person 50-minute class will focus on conversation, partner activities, mini presentations, cultural activities, and projects. To successfully retain and build knowledge, this course requires about 4.5-5 hours spread out over a few days each week. Weekly work will be posted on Google Classroom and will include a mix of written workbook assignments, online learning assignments, and quizzes. Successful completion should satisfy Spanish 1 High school credit.

High School Spanish 1 Fridays 10:00

High School Spanish 2 Fridays 1:00

Spanish 2 Course description Curriculum ¡En Camino! By Breaking the Barrier Semester 1 will include instruction, practice, review, and testing of culture, vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading, speaking, and listening in: Review of Ser, Estar, Vocabulary, Present tense regular and irregular verbs, subject pronouns, “boot” verbs in present tense. New instruction will include Preterite, Imperfect, Reflexive Object Pronouns, Por vs Para, Saber vs Conocer. Semester 2 will include instruction, practice, review, and testing of culture, vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading, and listening in: Choosing between Imperfect and Preterite, Choosing between Saber and Conocer, Special Expressions with Hacer, Construction with Acabar de, Progressive tense, Reflexive and Reciprocal constructions, Formal Commands, Idiomatic Expressions, Immediate Future. 1 weekly in-person 50-minute class will focus on conversation, partner activities, mini presentations, cultural activities, and projects. To successfully retain and build knowledge, this course requires about 4.5-5 hours spread out over a few days each week. Weekly work will be posted on Google Classroom and will include a mix of written workbook assignments and online learning assignments and quizzes. Successful completion should satisfy Spanish 2 High school credit.

Registration:
To begin the registration process, please complete the Student Information Form. Once submitted, you will receive an email with your student’s registration status and next steps.

Please note that registration is not considered complete until all required family forms have been submitted and the registration and material fees have been paid.

Refund Policy

EMA Direct-Pay Funds: Payments made using EMA direct-pay funds are non-refundable once processed. However, credit may be issued for future classes.

• Material Fee: $100

  • A material fee is required to secure your child’s spot in Fall 2025 classes. This fee covers student coursebooks and all necessary class supplies.

  • Additional textbooks may be required.

• Refund Policy

  • EMA Direct-Pay Funds: Payments made using EMA direct-pay funds are non-refundable once processed. However, credit will be issued toward future classes.

  • Full Refunds: Cancellations made at least 4 weeks prior to the class start date are eligible for a full refund.

  • Filling Your Spot: If you cancel within 4 weeks of the class start date and your spot is successfully filled, a full refund will be issued.

  • Partial Refunds: Cancellations made between 2 and 4 weeks prior to the class start date are eligible for a 50% refund.

  • No Refunds: Cancellations made during the semester are not eligible for refunds.
